Inspired by Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, a team of priests, lay people and adolescents had set about writing a catechism for young people many years before.
It was a true grassroots project – there was no official contract nor did the initiators have commercial intentions.
The fundamental insight upon which the cardinal based his idea at that time still remains at the very heart of what the YOUCAT Foundation does today.
The world cannot continue down the path
that it is taking now. If a Christian in these days
looks away from the need of the poorest of the
poor, then in reality he is not a Christian!
So I beg you: Study this Catechism with passion and perseverance. Make a sacrifice of your time for it! Study it in the quiet of your room; read it with a friend; form study groups and networks; share with each other on the Internet. By all means continue to talk with each other about your faith.
POPE EMERITUS BENEDICT XVI
If you want to do something for young people, you need to do it with young people.
