Impact on young people and their personal growth

Prisca Chaabu from the parish of St. Michael in Kalabo shares how DOCAT has given her comfort and strength while she faced fears about global conflicts. DOCAT’s message of peace and the words of German physicist Hans-Peter Dürr about working with nature have touched her deeply and helped her to view environmental and global problems through a hopeful lens.

Choolwe Hamampande, also from St. Michael’s parish, particularly highlights the section in which DOCAT deals with environmental responsibility. According to Choolwe, the book has inspired him and his colleagues to be responsible stewards of creation. The book’s lessons resonate with his passion for climate justice and have strengthened his commitment to sustainability.

Benefits for education and institutional use

Educational institutions, such as the Sancta Maria School of Nursing and Midwifery, describe DOCAT as an invaluable resource. The book has been integrated into student research and discussions, particularly on the common good, human dignity, solidarity, and subsidiarity. Students use DOCAT to explore these principles in-depth and understand how they interrelate and can be applied to real-life situations. The school has made the DOCAT freely available in its library to ensure all students can benefit from its teachings.

Community action

Youth groups in the diocese also report positive experiences with DOCAT. Seminarian Daniel Mandandi Muyambango from the parish of St. Joseph in Mangango highlights how the book has prompted discussions on social justice issues and encouraged young Catholics to join community initiatives.

According to Fr. Kennedy Phiri and Fr. Obvious Nc’ube, who are in their pastoral year, DOCAT offers them a solid foundation to address social and ethical issues in their parishes and to advocate for justice and peace. DOCAT goes beyond individual development and has fostered a greater sense of community and responsibility among the youth.

The Diocese of Mongu would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to the benefactors and assure them of its prayers. The distribution of DOCAT has proven to be a transformative initiative equipping the youth of Mongu Diocese with knowledge and inspiration to live their faith in a practical and impactful way.
